This listing is for the Maria Luigia D'Austria Court Token 1814-1847. A court token is traditionally given out during royal events such as anniversaries or family celebrations. This court Token is explicitly tied to her accession as Duchess of Parma. The front of this Token is a left-facing portrait of Maria Luigia in a classical headdress with a crown underneath. The back shows floral garlands around the perimeter of the coin, and at the center, a 5-point star with a radiated burst from it. Luigia is married to Napoleon. they married in 1810, the same year his previous marriage was annulled with Josephine. The start of the marriage between Napoleon and Maria Luigia was marked as a significant period of peace between Austria and the French Empire. This is an excellent find with unique historical ties!
